What a frightening episode, Doug. My prayers and support go out to you and Jeanee -- this is truly a difficult time for you (I know this from first-hand experience with heart problems!). We truly live in wonderful times with respect to medical technology -- the advancements over the past quarter century have been staggering. Watching films as a kid in the 60's, compared to what is available now, is like looking through a mirror into the Dark Ages. I see God's hand in all of this, and I know He will be looking over you both.

My own heart was racing as I read your story. In 1982, my son was born with heart problems and needed surgery at 5 months. God answered my prayers and he was sent home to be a normal, healthy child. In 2000, my husband Carl was having issues that could have been a stroke or heart issues. It turned out that he had lived 48 years with a hole in his heart which was repaired and he was sent home to live a normal, healthy life. It was terrifying to say the least in both cases as we began the series of tests and diagnoses. But God indeed answered my prayers. God does not always answer in a way that we immediately understand, but when we trust in him, he gives us strength and comfort in our time of emotional dilema. May God grant you strength and peace in this time of trials.

What a wonderful gift - a granddaughter-to-be! God has truly blessed you and your family. As he has blessed me with new friends and a family in Christ. May we remember to count our blessings - they are always there.

It was as if you read my mind today. This really helped me put things back into perspective. We all need constant reminders to simply follow God's path and to trust in Him.

Who doesn't identify at least a little bit with Paul? The more I read of him, starting in Acts and then moving on to the Epistles, the more I am awed by his ability to accomplish so much in such primitive times -- traveling by foot and hazardous boat voyages, putting himself at such risk in a very dangerous world -- and amazed at the power of God to reclaim him for his own and make him the one to spread the Gospel to the Gentiles. If Paul were deemed that worthy, there is certainly great hope for the rest of us!

Thanks for the reminder that, no matter how much we would like to repair a broken family relationship by getting the person or persons at odds with us to accept Christ into their hearts so that we can share in the glories of The Kingdom, we cannot force that relationship on anyone. It must be a personal acceptance of Christ as Lord and Savior.

on the road we travel to anf from our ranch outside of town is a Babtist church, the other day as i was on the way home and thinking about the typical strifes of everyday life,Family, Jobs , Chores needing done, I passed this little church and the bright red lighted sign caught my eye, and after reading the words it also caught my attention.
" A WORN AND TATTERED BIBLE, USUALLY REVEALS A LIFE THAT IS NOT"
On the reading table in our family room is a copy of the Cowboy Bible given to our family by Todd Pierce and Wiley Petersen while we attended a Miniature Bullriding Clinic with our son, since reading this bright red sign 2 weeks ago, our little paperback bible is becoming very well worn and beautifully tattered! Thank you Todd, Wiley and thank you Jesus!
God Bless and we will see you in Vegas Sunday Nov 1

What a wonderful story! And like your blog from October 10th, it speaks a simple yet very profound truth (not my words but from, of all things, "The Santa Claus!") -- "Seeing isn't believing: believing is seeing!"

Job is a tough book, and seemingly not uplifting. Thanks for "lifting the veil," so to speak, and finding and sharing the positive aspects of this one, Doug. And Job, if we read carefully and in the right spirit, helps us to confront, and maybe even forgive, ourselves.

Thank you Doug for putting it so simply. I have been struggling with the past - what could I have done differently and why did these painful things happen to me? I needed the encouragement to move on, let go of the hurt and anger and live now, to accept the life God has given me and make it the best life I can.
